Scientific Meeting SCF-BPL 2021

Programme

General Information

Under the aegis of the Western Section (Bretagne-Pays de la Loire) of the French Chemical Society, the chemists of Rennes are organizing a congress on September 30 and October 1, 2021 in Rennes (Campus de Beaulieu, University of Rennes 1, PNRB, Building 9B).

As this congress takes place every two years, its organization had to be canceled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Following the announced « end of confinement », the office of the West section has decided to organize it face-to-face from the start of the 2021 academic year. It will bring together around a hundred participants, mainly researchers and students from both regions.

The originality of this congress lies in its multidisciplinary nature, with many fields of chemistry being represented (supramolecular chemistry, organic synthesis, solid-state chemistry, analytical chemistry, electrochemistry, catalysis, etc.) addresses both fundamental and applied aspects. This year, the first day will be devoted to highlighting the numerous local collaborations with Poland and honoring the recipient of the Franco-Polish SCF award in 2019; Prof. M. SAMOC.

Six other renowned speakers will, for this occasion, also be invited to present their work in a plenary or “keynote” conference:
Marius ANDRUH : Univ. Bucarest, Bucarest (Roumanie)

Keywords : Coordination Polymers, Molecular Magnets, Magnetic Molecular Solids.

Mireille BLANCHARD-DESCE : ISM, Bordeaux (France)

Keywords : Organic Chemistry, Nonlinear Optics, Bioimaging, Photodynamic Therapy.
Marek SAMOC : Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Wroclaw (Poland)
Keywords :   Nonlinear Optics, Nanoparticles, Up-conversion, Z-scan.
Jacek WALUK : Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw (Poland)
Keywords : Porphyrins, Tunnel Effect, Fluorescence of Single Molecules, Molecular Electronics.
Sylvain ACHELLE : IUT Lannion, Lannion (France)
Keywords : Nitrogen Heterocycles, Pyrimidines, Advanced Emissive Materials.
Jacek KUBICKI : Adam Mickiewicz Univ., Poznan (Poland)
Keywords : Time-Resolved Transient Absorption, Vibrational Spectroscopy, Nanochemistry.
Katarzyna MATCZYSZYN : WUST, Wroclaw (Poland)
Keywords : Nonlinear Optics, Nanoparticles, Nanobiophotonics.

Place and Event

In order to promote interactions between all participants, the congress will be entirely located at the Pôle Numérique de Rennes-Beaulieu (PNRB), on the campus of the same name at University of Rennes 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. during the two days (30/09/21-01/10/21). It will combine the seven invited conferences detailed above, around forty oral communications as well as two poster sessions, the best of which will be awarded by the organizers.

Objectives

This congress traditionally brings together, every two years, chemists from the two regions of Brittany and Pays de Loire, thus making it possible to strengthen and develop the important links between the different laboratories, a necessary condition for the implementation of joint projects and joint training. , common research structures. This year, it will be more particularly open to doctoral and post-doctoral students from the “Grand Ouest” laboratories, who will find there, for the first time in almost two years, the opportunity to compare their results and their experiences face-to-face and present their results orally. This return to face-to-face scientific exchanges is eagerly awaited by our doctoral students, who until then have had to deal exclusively with "distance" tools to communicate their results, as the end of their doctorate approaches, but also by all of us.

In addition, this year, they will have the opportunity to interact with a panel of mainly foreign speakers, specialized in the field of molecular electronics and photonics and also to interact with their Polish students counterparts.
